CRISES, TRANSITIONS AND RESILIENCE:
NEW VIEWS ON COMPANIES IN FRANCE AND IN THE FRANCOPHONE SPACE

THE PRIZES OF THE BETTER BOOK AND OF THE BETTER THESIS IN BUSINESS HISTORY HAVE BEEN AWARDED!  LEARN MORE

In France and in the Francophone space, companies, like their counterparts around the world, have experienced moments of crisis and profound transformations in recent years. The Covid-19 pandemic, which has developed in a lightning fashion since the beginning of 2019, has given rise, as it does after every crisis, to numerous analyses on the changes in the economic world. These questions have been rekindled and sharpened, particularly in Europe, by the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, which is dealing serious blows to the world trade system and, through it, to the globalisation of the years 2000-2010. As always, many commentators have wondered, and continue to wonder, whether the 'world after' will be the same as before.

Against this backdrop, the 2d International Congress of French Business History Congress will focus on the theme of CRISIS, TRANSITION AND RESILIENCE

It will focus on the following issues:

1- Strengths and weaknesses of companies - French or foreign - in a crisis environment;

2- French companies facing the challenges of change and adaptation;

3- Does French business history have the tools and concepts to think about transition and resilience today?

4- Eiffel Centenary: Eiffel's work in the light of the Congress theme.

The congress will be held in person at ESCP Business School, 79 avenue de la République, Paris 11e and at CNAM, 292 rue Saint-Martin, Paris 3e; The doctoral school will take place at Université Paris Dauphine on 14 June. Only the plenary sessions and round tables can be followed by video conference. Financial support may be granted to young researchers upon request. They will be aimed in a privileged way to collective or "eco-friendly" modes of transport.
